01

The mountain at a glance

Since the Silla period, Geumosan has been handed down in tradition as a mountain holding the spirit of the sun.

Rock cliffs, dense forest and valleys come together across the mountain.

One account says the name Geumosan comes from a golden crow flying away.

Elevation976m

Rocky peaks over 900 m — Hyeonwolbong(현월봉), Yaksabong(약사봉), Bobong(보봉) and more — wrap around the north and northeast.

Provincial park since1970

Designated on 1 June 1970 as Provincial Park No. 1 of the Republic of Korea. The Gyeongbu Expressway opened in July of the same year.
